Starting as far back as 1984, SWYC’s Charity Bay Race has been an exciting and much anticipated event over the years.  This year’s event is comprised of a Buy-Up Buy-Down party on the Friday preceding the event, a Scavenger Hunt on Saturday followed by the Charity Bay Race and Awards Party on Sunday.  The NOR and SIs are included on this Site.

Charity Bay Race is one of the largest charity regattas in the nation.  The racers compete in a pursuit start on a challenging 10-mile course around San Diego Bay.  The Race is open to all classes of yachts and the Entry fee includes two tickets to the BBQ and Award ceremony following at Southwestern Yacht Club. Additional tickets can be purchased at the door.

SWYC’s Charity Bay Race has benefited numerous charities over the years, among them the Leukemia Society and San Diego Hospice.  Today the event benefits ElderHelp of San Diego, an organization dedicated to providing services to San Diego seniors that help ensure they can live in their own home with dignity and comfort for as long as possible.

The Charity Bay Race in conjunction with the Benefit in the Bay Beacon of Light and Bottom Fishing Tournament continue to be among our Club’s most popular and satisfying events.
